Working conditions at BraveCare
  • Work at Bravecare is safe and fully legal. Each employee traveling on assignment is registered with ZUS (Social Insurance Institution), where insurance contributions are paid for them. Each employee must have form A1 and a valid EHIC card.

  • You can always rely on us – the first point of contact is your assigned Coordinator, and in case of problems during the assignment, you can contact our lawyer, psychologist, and nurse. We guarantee free travel to and from the assignment.

  • We respect our employees and reward them according to their skills and dedication. If you enjoyed collaborating with us, recommend a candidate to us – if they leave with us on an assignment, you will receive a special referral bonus!

How does it all work?

Step by step:

  1. You contact us. You provide us with the necessary information about your caregiving experience to find the best assignment, and you also specify your terms. It’s great if you also have references. We then verify your language level and look for an assignment that suits you.
  2. You receive a proposal for an assignment. The Coordinator explains all the conditions, provides necessary information about the care recipient’s health, details of remuneration, and the place of work. If you accept the offer, we send your CV to the German client.
  3. After the German family’s approval, you fill out the ZUS Questionnaire, we sign a mutual agreement, and we complete the formalities, meaning we register you for mandatory ZUS insurance and start the process of obtaining documents (A1 and EHIC).
  4. When you sign the documents, you can start packing because we arrange transport for you at the company’s expense from your home directly to the care recipient’s home. You will receive confirmation of the transport assignment by email.
  5. Upon arrival at the assignment location, you get to know the family and the care recipient. At any time, you can also contact your Coordinator, who will assist you in all situations and answer any questions.
  6. After the completion of the assignment, we will organize your return transport so that you can safely return home.
How to prepare for the trip?

Before leaving, remind yourself of basic German language vocabulary related to caregiving, elderly ailments, everyday life situations such as shopping, cooking, dressing. Save the contact details of your Coordinator and our company, the care recipient’s address, and the carrier’s information that will transport you on the assignment.

What should you take with you?

  • Identification document, e.g., ID card

  • Mobile phone with roaming turned on and a charger

  • Driver’s license if you have one

  • Payment card (in Germany, you can pay with Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, and Cirus), some cash in EURO currency for your own expenses

  • it’s always worth securing yourself in case of unexpected situations

  • Necessary hygiene products, clothing, comfortable shoes, a small towel, and medications if you take any.
    When packing, remember that carriers usually have baggage limits, usually up to 25-30 kg.

What to do upon arrival at the care recipient's home?

Upon arriving at the assignment location, you will receive necessary information regarding your duties, the senior’s daily schedule, as well as their medical and dietary recommendations from the care recipient’s family and the previous Caregiver if you are on an exchange. It is also essential to know the care recipient’s physical and mental activity levels and their preferred ways of spending time. Familiarize yourself with the nearest store, pharmacy, and service points. Establish rules with the family for using the internet and managing your free time.

NOTE! If you encounter conditions significantly different from those previously established upon arrival or if the care recipient’s health does not match the pre-existing information, be sure to contact your Coordinator immediately! React similarly if the care recipient or their family requires additional duties from you that were not previously discussed. If you have any questions or doubts, call your Coordinator; they are there to help you.

What tasks are Caregivers not allowed to perform according to German law?
  • It is prohibited to interfere with the skin’s surface, for example, administering injections or insulin – you must not administer medication to the care recipient independently.
  • The caregiver’s task is to ensure that the care recipient takes their medications, while medication distribution is handled by German medical assistance or a family member. Also, remember not to measure blood sugar levels or put compression socks on the care recipient.
What to do in emergency situations?
  • Remember that panic is not a good advisor. If an accident occurs involving you or the care recipient, call the emergency number in Germany (Notruf) – tel. 112 as quickly as possible and report the incident. Under this number, just like in Poland, there is an Emergency Reporting Center, which, depending on the situation, will redirect you to the police, ambulance, or fire department. Provide the address where the accident occurred, as well as the name, surname, and age of the injured person, and details of the incident.
  • Remember never to consume alcohol or other intoxicants at the workplace!
  • You are responsible for the well-being and life of another person, and that is a significant responsibility!
